Today is the day! The TRIP begins! We are on our way!
We left Portland at 8:00 a.m. on our way to San Francisco and then on to London. As we took off from Portland International the weather was clear with beautiful views of Mt. Hood, Mt. Jefferson, Mt. Bachelor, the Three Sisters and Mt Shasta along the way. If you don’t live in the Pacific Northwest, these are all volcanoes. Currently all are inactive but imposing none the less. They are spectacular when seen from the air on a clear day.
It was a beautiful day for flying, which from Portland this time of year is rare. Actually any time of year it’s rare except for July and August – the dry months. I’ve taken this flight many times, and rain and clouds are usually the norm. Here in the Pacific Northwest we count our blessings when the sun shines. You really have to live here to understand what the weather is like – especially what it’s like to have 33 days of rain in a row in the winter… And I mean down pour everyday – not just a mist. Soggy does not even begin to cover it.
So much time, thought planning and waiting has taken place, it’s hard to believe we are finally on our way. Right now we’re in the Alaska Board Room waiting for our next flight – but it’s time to go!
Next stop – London where we’ll be greeting you from the other side of the pond!
